About This Site
This site was developed, and is best viewed, with the Firefox web browser. If you don’t like Firefox then perhaps you might consider using Opera or Safari. If you really must use Internet Explorer (why?) at least please make sure that you have the latest version.
I built this site using the Wordpress blogging platform because I wanted a CMS that I could add fresh content to on a (hopefully) regular basis. I did seriously weigh up all the alternatives but the only other CMS I know well is Drupal and that would have been a case of “overkill” for my simple needs. Of course I could have started from scratch and built the whole thing from the ground up but, to coin a cliche, why re-invent the wheel?
I got the idea for the layout design from an excellent Drupal themeing tutorial on the gomediazine website. I wanted something a little different to the normal website/blog that was still simple to use and this style of layout appealed to me.
I am a lover of Flash® based websites but unfortunately they are not exactly search engine friendly and require quite a lot of work to update. Having said that, I do hope to add a Flash® section here in the not too distant future.

About Me
My name is Mike O’Neill and I was born and grew up in the West Midlands of England and currently reside in Leiden in the Netherlands.
One day back in 1989 I woke up in England and realised that I had never been anywhere or done anything. Three months later I was on a plane to Australia with a 12 month work visa in my passport. I spent just over a year in Oz and the next two and a half years traveling and working in Asia and Southern Europe.
In 1994 I came to Holland planning to stay for a summer and 14 years later I am still here! Although, in my defence, since I have been here I have made three big trips in Africa and another three in Latin America.
Towards the end of 2003 I started messing around with computers for the first time (I know, I was a late starter). An experience I initially found quite frustrating as I seemed to spend half of the time fighting with the computer. Then somebody introduced me to the Macintosh platform and I haven’t looked back since.
I began learning how websites are put together as a hobby and several people seemed impressed with what I was doing so I decided to see how far I could take it. With the help of several good books and unlimited excellent web resources I believe I have now reached a standard where I can offer my services to anyone who might want them.
